DOMAINE DE LA TUFFIÈRE - EARL COIGNARD BENESTEAU

Hidden between the (le) Loir and (la) Loire rivers is a vineyard of great importance. This unique 16th century vineyard at Lué-en-Baugeois was created by the monks from the Priory of Tuffiére-Brulée. Today, Anjou appellations are produced on 25 hectares of sun drenched hilly slopes. These wines are developed using traditional methods, aged in oak barrels in the cellars dug into the limestone escarpment. Hence the reference to tuffeau in the name 'Tuffière'.

These wines were once favoured by the powerful bishops of Angers who lived close-by at the Château de Villeveque. Now, the vineyard welcomes visitors of every kind to these impressive cellars located in an ancient troglodyte cave, cut into the local limestone rock.
