For over 800 years, the Collegiate Church of Puy Notre Dame has stood in this geographically and spiritually significant location, looking out over a sea of vines measuring some 1,500 hectares.  Puy Notre Dame has been a winegrowing village since the days of the Plantagenets in the 13th century, and is known to have been a village retreat for Eleanor of Aquitaine.
