Château de Valmer - Vins et Jardins

Viticulteur

Valmer is an enchanting setting dedicated to the delights of gardens and wines.

Italian style hanging gardens of the Renaissance. Eight levels of terrasses overlooking protected landscapes: clipped hornbeam labyrinth, yew hedge castle, florentine fountains, balustrades, statues, moats, box hedges and flower beds. Botany and biodiversity: Kitchen garden, collections of hydrangeas, peonies, pleached fruit trees. An extensive XVIIth century park with columns, belvedere and a young arboretum with interesting species. A rare troglodytic chapel dating from 1524.

Seated on a rocky spur between the Raye and Brenne Valleys, the vineyard of the Chateau de Valmer and its 28 hectares carrying the label of Vouvray and Touraine appellation benefits from its proximity, less than 5 kilometres as the crow flies to the Loire, the last wild European river to be added to the World Heritage Sites of UNESCO. The family winemaking tradition of the Chateau de Valmer dates back to the end of the XVth century. The Count de Saint Venant and his son Jean keep the tradition alive and devote themselves to their vineyard.

Free wine tasting throughout the year of Chateau de Valmer Vouvray AOC wines produced, aged and bottled at the domain: Traditional Method, Dry, Semi-Sweet, Sweet.
